Obituary

Daniel Robert Brusewitz, age 81 of Cecil, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at a local nursing home. Born on April 24, 1931 in the Town of Hartland, he was the son of the late Alfred and Selma (Schmidt) Brusewitz. Daniel grew up in the Bonduel area. At the age of 23 he enlisted with the United States Army and honorably served his country for two years during the Korean War. On June 13, 1959 he was united in marriage to Verna Bahr in Bonduel. The couple made their home in the Cecil area for the past 45 years. Daniel worked at Liebman Packing and at Carver Boats. He also enjoyed roofing with the B&B Builders. When not working, Daniel enjoyed listening to polka music. He also liked to bowl and watch the Bonduel Broncos play baseball. Daniel was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Washington. He was also a member of the Bonduel American Legion Post #217 and was active with the Bonduel Broncos Baseball Organization. Daniel is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Verna; 6 children, Susan (John) Klemens, Bonnie (Brian) Sperberg, Dale (Tracy Smith) Brusewitz, Timothy (Terrie) Brusewitz, Bruce (Kelly) Brusewitz, Brian Brusewitz; 8 grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Erdman, Brandon Klemens, Ben (Alison) Sperberg, Brooke Sperberg, Nathan Brusewitz, Devon (Caila) Brusewitz, Kendra Brusewitz, Jason (Karri) Luebke; 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Addison, Gavin, Jameson with the 5th due in July; a former daughter-in-law, Karen; a brother, J.J. (Kay) Brusewitz of New Richmond; and a sister-in-law, Vanitta Brusewitz of Bonduel. He is further survived by 2 brothers-in-law, David (Erna) Bahr, Roger (Diana) Bahr; sisters-in-law, Shelby Bahr; and Joe, Nicole, Molly and Cali. Daniel was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Mindy Klemens; his parents; a sister, Dorothy Berkhahn; a brother, Maynard Brusewitz; a half brother, Ray Westphal; brother-in-law, Dennis Bahr, and sister-in-law, Ethel Bahr in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with the Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217 at the funeral home following the service. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at White Clay Lake. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of the service.
