Daniel Joseph "Dan" Strauss, age 54, passed away in Michigan surrounded by his family on July 31, 2023, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Dan was born on January 30, 1969, in Shawano, to Kenneth Strauss and the late Dorothy (Zaddack) Strauss. Dan was a talented welder and worked for August Winter and Sons in Appleton, then taught at NWTC, and was currently employed at IVI in Greenville. On June 18, 2011, Dan was united in marriage to Carmen (Scheer) Willis at St. John Lutheran Church in Suring, Wisconsin. Dan was a "collector" of many things. In his free time, he enjoyed sapping, raising chickens and tinkering in the shop. Dan loved his family and friends with all his might. He would bend over backwards for anyone. His kindness, humor, and mischievous smile will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Left to cherish Dan's memory are: his wife, Carmen; dogs, Libby and Jewel; father, Kenneth; brothers, James (Kelly) Strauss and Anthony (Beth) Strauss; sister, Kylee (Jimmy) Jones; nieces, Amanda (Rick), Emma, Emily and Samantha; nephews, James Jr. (Lindsey), Jordan, Leland (Perla), Hunter, Garrett, Evan, and Carter; great-nieces, Aisha, Lucy, Bristol and Kinley; great-nephews, Wesley, Connor, and Ethan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carla and Mike Christie; and stepfather, Bill Hagemann. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Dan is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Hagemann.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 12, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday August 11, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and then again on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Lake Drive Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Steve Mariucci's Beacon House in Marquette, Michigan.
