Daniel "Boonie" J. Wayka, Sr., age 61, of Keshena, passed away on Friday March 11, 2022 in Milwaukee. He was born on March 9, 1961, in Shawano, to the late Ernest, Sr. and Louise "Marie" (Waupoose) Wayka. Boonie attended Gresham High School and later earned his HSED. Boonie spent most of his life on the Menominee reservation. In his younger years he loved playing softball and weightlifting. Boonie was also a skilled award-winning jigger. He worked for the Menominee tribe as a carpenter and worked in security at the Menominee Indian Casino. Boonie loved visiting with others, taking walks, and especially enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers.

Boonie is survived by: his children Daniel (Misty) Wayka Jr, Fawn Pyawasit, and Fern (Steve) Pyawasit; his grandchildren R.J. Gabriella, Gage, Gracie, Gloriana, Evelyn, Taliegha, Hayden, Ta-Naya, and Lennox; his siblings, Deneane (Miles) Tourtillott, Richard Wayka, and Janell Wayka; He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his siblings, Ernest Wayka, Jr., Marvin Wayka, Sr., John Wayka, Myron "Chummy" Wayka, Curtis Wayka Sr., Ronald Wayka, Deborah Wayka, Karen Sackatook, Dorla Boivin, Caroline Caldwell, and Daryl James; his son Joseph in infancy; the mother of his children Ona Pyawasit

A funeral service for Daniel will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at 11:00 am with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Visitation will be held at the family residence, N466 Chief Souligney Rd., in the Warrington edition of Keshena, from 2:00 pm on Sunday March 13, 2022 until the time of procession to the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of Froedtert Hospital.
