Darwin Roger "Dar" Martzke, age 73, of Shawano, passed away at ThedaCare Medical Center in Appleton on Tuesday February 17, 2026. Dar was born on August 13, 1952, in Shawano to the late Willard and Gwen (Mickel) Martzke. He was baptized at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. Dar grew up on the family farm and developed his strong work ethic at a young age. In 1970, Dar graduated from Shawano High School. He worked as a builder, eventually becoming a partner in Teem Builders. He also owned and operated Salty's Saloon in the Town of Richmond for several years and never stopped helping on the farm. In his free time, he enjoyed side by side rides with Ardith as well as hunting for deer and pheasants and fishing. He was a dedicated member of the Red River Sportsman's Club. Family was always the most important thing to him, and he cherished time with family and friends.
Dar is survived by his children, Dustin Martzke and Dotty (Jon) Bauer; stepdaughter, Lori Barnes; grandchildren, Jaden Bauer, Jared Bauer and Chandrick Daney; siblings, Sandy Wendorff, Steve (Debbie) Martzke, Cheryl (Pete) Arthur and Hope (Michael "Bitzen") Peters; as well as his former wife, Debra Hoeft. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dar is preceded in death by his significant other, Ardith Barnes; a brother, Cal Martzke; a sister, Donna (Chuck) Arthur; and his parents, Willard and Gwen Martzke.
A memorial service for Dar will be held at 11:00 am on Friday February 27, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Colin Moon officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
