David R. Bahr, age 86, of Cecil, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Weston, WI.
He was born January 21, 1931, in Shawano, to the late Paul and Edna (Lemke) Bahr. He married Erna Miller on December 3, 1977.
Dave lived his entire life in Cecil. He graduated from Bonduel High School where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He continued his interest in sports by officiating football, basketball, and baseball for many years. Dave was a driving force in creating the little league baseball program in the Cecil area. He worked for the Bonduel School District for 39 years in building maintenance and for 49 years as a bus driver.
Dave was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Washington. A devoted public servant, Dave spent many years serving the Village of Cecil as property assessor, village marshal, village trustee, and village president. He was a member of the Cecil-Town of Washington Fire Department for 25 years. Dave was an active member of the Cecil Lions club, where he was a charter member. He served the club in a variety of offices, including the position of club secretary which he held for many years. In addition, he also served the Lions at the state level as a Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor, and District Governor. He attended many state and international Lions conventions.
Dave is survived by his wife, Erna; his children Steven (Michelle) Bahr of Ringle, WI and Karin Coolidge of Bradenton, FL; step-son David (Debbie) Miller of Howard, WI; step-daughter-in-law Carol Miller of Mayville, WI; grandchildren Megan (Jim) Tonn, Ryan Bahr, and Cassandra Coolidge; step-grandchildren Kathleen Miller (fiancé Michael Vey), Michael Miller, Brooke (Steve) Collier, Shana Sperberg, and Cole Sperberg; great-grandson Jordan Tonn; step-great-grandchildren Sullivan and Amelia Collier, Bryten Sperberg; sister Verna Brusewitz, Cecil; brother Roger (Diana) Bahr, Little Chute; and sister-in-law Shelby Bahr, Cecil.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ethel, who died in infancy; brother Dennis Bahr; brother-in-law Daniel Brusewitz; and step-son Robert Miller.
Funeral services for Dave will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Town of Washington with Rev. Steven Pockat officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 15th at Swedberg-Zastrow Funeral Home, Cecil and again at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
