Obituary

O glorious day! On Friday, July 28th God brought His faithful servant David Arthur Goese home to Himself in heaven. We praise the Lord for the blessing of eternal life given David through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
David was born on September 16, 1930, to William and Violet (Redman) Goese in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was born of water and the Word at his baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kaukauna on October 5th. On April 23, 1944 he was confirmed in his faith. On October 24, 1953 he vowed faithfulness to and married Thelma Lucille Parsons and they moved to Milwaukee to start their new life. In December he graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and started his career at Ryerson Steel in Milwaukee.
In 1969, they purchased land on Legend Lake in Keshena and built a cottage. They made wonderful memories there with their children and grandchildren throughout the years. David and Thelma both enjoyed sailing and other water sports. They moved to Germantown in 1976. During that time they took up golfing and loved it, both becoming members at Pine Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin. The couple both retired in 1991 and moved to their cottage. In 1992 they purchased a winter place in Zolfo Springs, Florida, joining Brookside Bluffs Golf Course where they lived and made many close friendships there, as well.
Dave and Thelma lived their faith. During these retirement years they were members at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano. Dave served in many ways as a lay minister on its council. He was also a member of the evangelism program at their church in Florida. Blessed with a generous capacity for showing hospitality, they welcomed many teaching and seminary students into their home, one of whom became their son-in-law through marriage to their daughter Barbie. They were dependable friends and when friends, even acquaintances, experienced difficult times, Dave would be sure to share the love of Jesus with them and help them in any way possible.
In 2009 they sold their cottage home and moved to a condo in Shawano. In May of 2014 Thelma was called home to heaven. Dave still made the trip to Florida these last few years, spending this last winter of his earthly life enjoying his home there with family and friends. When he returned to Wisconsin in the spring, even though he was struggling with his health, he still wanted to come out to Legend Lake and enjoy the place that held so many fond memories. He took his last boat ride around the lake only a few weeks ago. We all feel blessed that his last months and final days were spent at home, surrounded by his family. He died peacefully there, tenderly cared for by his granddaughter, Haley. God is good, God is good all the time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Violet Goese; his sister, Mary; and his wife, Thelma.
He is survived by daughters Lynne (Roger) Tews of Cedarburg, WI; Sue (Gary) Thoma of Keshena, WI; and Barbie (Jud) Krohn of Pickett, WI. His loving grandchildren include: Michelle (Andy) Korolewski, Justin and Michael Tews; Amanda Kriewaldt (Beau), David (Meghan) Glasheen, Paul (Heidi) Glasheen, and Elizabeth Glasheen and her fiancé Todd Mader, Olivia, Kelsey, and Brandon Thoma; Haley & Braeden Krohn. He has 11 great grandchildren: Cameron & Sawyer Korolewski; Elliot, Benjamin and Isabelle Kriewaldt, Elijah Hoffarth, Abigail Glasheen, Vivian, Warren and Cora Glasheen and many nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends.
A special thank you Pastor Kuehn for his care and concern, visiting and encouraging Dave numerous times with the Gospel message. The family would also like to thank Theda Care at Home and also all of our care givers. Without them he would not have been able to remain at home. Thank you!
