David Leroy Habeck, age 89, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Shawano. David was born on May 24, 1937, in Shawano to the late Julius and Lenora (Jesse) Habeck. He served his country proudly in the United States National Guard for six years. In his younger years, David enjoyed hunting and fishing. On July 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Zastrow; the couple spent a wonderful 60 years together making memories and sharing many laughs before Barbara’s passing in 2017. David lived in the Shawano area all of his life and worked as a laborer at Northland Foods and Foremost Farm. He enjoyed wood carving, carpentry, living on the lake and family trips to Wyoming. One of David’s favorite past times was spending time at his land. He was a member of St. Paul Stony Hill Lutheran Church. David was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend; he will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his children Sharon (Jeff) Friedrich and Daniel (Carrie) Habeck; grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) Habeck, Carrie (Andy) Cisewski, Melissa Friedrich, Nicole (Josh) Biertzer, Noah (Olivia) Habeck and Gracyn (Austin Dillenberg) Habeck; and five great-grandchildren, Aubree, Ryder, Quentin, Elliott and Sebastian. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Habeck; son, Jeffrey Habeck; siblings, Roger Habeck, Vernal Habeck, Leland Habeck and Elaine Darling; and parents, Julius and Lenora Habeck.
A memorial service for David will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. Paul Stony Hill Lutheran Church with Rev. Colin Moon officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30 am until the time of service. Inurnment will be held at the church cemetery.
