Rev. David P. Miller was born on July 6, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to Fritz and Dorothy (White) Miller. He was baptized on August 31, 1941, at St. John Lutheran Church, Wykoff, MN, by Rev. A. F. Mock. He attended elementary school at Lincoln Public School (Kindergarten-Grade 2) and St. James Lutheran School (Grades 3-8), both in Chicago, IL. He graduated from St. James Lutheran School on June 15, 1955. Rev. Miller was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 3, 1955, at St. James Lutheran Church, Chicago, IL, Rev. A. C. Dahms being his pastor. His Confirmation verse was Psalm 143:10: "Teach me to do your will for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!"

Rev. Miller attended Lane Technical High School, Chicago, Illinois, and graduated on June 26, 1959. He then attended Concordia Teachers College, St. Paul, MN, where he received an A.A. degree on June 3, 1961. He then attended Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL, where he obtained the degree of B.A. on August 19, 1966. He continued his education at Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL, and earned the degree of M.A.E, on August 16, 1973. In 1989, he entered Concordia Theological Seminary at Ft. Wayne, IN, and earned the degree of M.A.R, November 16, 1990. Rev. Miller was ordained into the ministry on July 7, 1991, at St. John Lutheran Church, Maple Grove, MN, by Rev. Steven C. Briel. He served as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Town of Washington, Bonduel, WI, and Hope Lutheran Church, Cecil, WI, from August of 1991 until his retirement in 2009.

On August 22, 1964, Rev. Miller married Joyce Billman of Burlington, WI, at St. John Lutheran Church, Rev. Harry Wiedman being their pastor. The marriage was blessed with two daughters, Kristine A. Kennow (a.k.a. Brighid Rose) of Des Plaines, IL, and Keri S. Whitmore of Milwaukee, WI.

Throughout his life, Rev. Miller has served in the church either as a teacher, coach, youth director, principal, and a pastor. He taught at Concordia Lutheran School, Peoria, IL, 1964-65, grades 2-3; Bethany Lutheran School, Chicago, IL 1965-1966, grades 7-8; Trinity Lutheran School, Racine, WI, 1966-79, grades 5-6; Prince of Peace Lutheran School, Racine, WI, grades 5-8, 1979-1987. Prince of Peace Lutheran School was a school started by Rev. Miller through the efforts of the South Wisconsin District to do mission work in the Crestview Area of Racine, WI. Rev. Miller also served as Circuit Counselor for the Shawano Area Churches of WI, and on various boards and committees of the South and North Wisconsin District.

Rev. David P. Miller was called to his eternal glory on Monday, July 13, 2026, having reached the age of 85 years and 1 week. He is survived by wife Joyce Miller, daughters Brighid Rose (formerly Kristine Miller), Keri (Matt) Whitmore. Grandchildren Rachel (Mario) Porcaro, Zachary (Elizabeth) Kennow, Penny Whitmore and Vivian Whitmore. Great-granddaughter Mila Porcaro. Rev. Miller is survived by his brothers and sister, Roger (Susan) Miller, Linda (Phil) Pendleton, Verne Miller, Dean (Lisa) Miller and Mark Miller, brother-in-law Harlan Billman and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Dorothy Miller.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Pastor Mark Palmer officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm and again on Saturday July 18, 2026, from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bonduel.
