David John Pieper, age 75 of Shawano, died on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home. David was born in Shawano on August 12, 1943, a son of the late Fred and Ida (Hess) Pieper.  On September 14, 1963, at St. James Lutheran Church, David was united in marriage to Karen Beyer.  David lived all his life on the home farm.  He worked as a farmer, cheese maker and later at the Shawano Paper Mill until retiring.  David enjoyed gardening, bowling, woodworking and ice fishing. He loved to cook and was known for his annual fall fish boils.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Stony Hill where he served on the finance committee and the Altar Guild.  Above all else, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Karen; their children, Lona (special friend, Mark) Ebert of Kaukauna, Scott (Margie) Pieper of Shawano and Paul Pieper of Shawano; grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Hinkle and their son, Deion, Amber Ebert, Evan Pieper and Cora Pieper; and one sister, Verna Buntrock of Hortonville; sisters-in-law, Renee Pieper of Gresham and Vonnie Kriewaldt of Shawano; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Helen Paiser, Fred Pieper, Jr. and three sisters in infancy; brothers-in-law, Emil Kriewaldt, Robert Paiser and Donald Buntrock.

Funeral services for David will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Stony Hill with Rev. John C. Eyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and again at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
