Dick Daniels, age 93 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Maple Lane Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 25, 1919 in Seymour, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Genevieve (Schweger) Daniels. He was a graduate of the Green Bay West High School. On January 23, 1941 he was united in marriage to Constance "Connie" Bobb at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Five days later he was inducted into the United States Army and served his country for the next 4 ½ years as a member of the 61st Coast Artillery and the 634th AAA AW Battalion. Upon his Honorable discharge on July 2, 1945, Dick had been awarded a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Services Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with a Silver Star and 6 Overseas Service bars. Dick worked in the Dairy Service industry for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Knights, Catholic Financial Life Branch #132, the Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Shawano American Legion Post #117 and was past commander of the 40&8. Dick is survived by: 2 daughters: Susan Hennigan of Shawano, Jeanne Daniels of Green Bay; 2 sons: David (Lola) of Green Bay, John "Jack" (Carol) of West Bend; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by: his wife, Connie on September 24, 2006; his daughter and son-in-law, Sally and William Metz; his parents; a brother, Dan Daniels; and a son-in-law, Kevin Hennigan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Len Evers officiating. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday from 3-7pm and at the church on Monday after 10am until the time of the service. A Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:30pm. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family asks that donations be made to Maple Lane Health Care Center of Shawano.
