Domonic Joseph "DJ" Caldwell, age 25, of Keshena WI passed away in Milwaukee, WI surrounded by his family on November 4, 2021. He was born on September 16, 1996 in Shawano, WI. Domonic graduated from Menominee Indian High School with the class of 2015, where he was a talented athlete in numerous sports, but excelled especially in basketball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Domonic knew he had a huge heart – he was a protector, a gentle giant, and had a way with his humor and jokes that could brighten up anyone's day. He was an avid packer fan and a fan of whichever team Lebron James played for.
Domonic is survived by: his parents - Jean "BJ" and Jerry Grignon, Melvin Caldwell Jr. and Tasha Caldwell. His siblings - Leshon (Jadin Parker) and Khyla Grignon, Bella and Melvin Caldwell III. Special Sisters Tashamae and Allison Perez. Grandmothers - Marla Wayka, Roberta Grignon, and Myrna Caldwell. Uncle – Curtis (Kaycee) Wayka Jr. Aunties – Diana Caldwell, Bobbie Jo (Joe Jacker) Caldwell. Special Nieces and nephew – Rayna and Carlo Parker and his little love Eretria Grignon. His godmother Lisa "Babygirls" Caldwell. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, friends and family who he cared about and loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by: his grandfather's Melvin Caldwell Sr., Curtis Wayka Sr., and Guy Grignon Sr. His uncles James Caldwell, Craig "OT" Wayka. His aunties Bobbie Girl Caldwell and Deborah French. As well as his godfather Daryl "D" Boivin.
A funeral service for Domonic will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, with Deacon Todd Raether officiating. Burial will be in Menominee Nation Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the St. Michael Parish Hall in Keshena beginning at 2:00pm on Sunday until the time of the service on Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at the parish hall on Monday at 7:00pm.
The family would like to thank Dr. Slagle of the Menominee Tribal Clinic, ThedaCare Neenah, and a special thank you to Froedert Hospital's TICU staff.
