Obituary

Donald E. Murdock, age 97 of Shawano, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 in Green Bay. Donald was born in Shawano on June 18, 1922 to the late Earl and Hertha (Schaar) Murdock. In 1940, he graduated from Shawano High School where he played drums in the High School Band. He served his country in the United States Army in World War II at Guadalcanal. At age 92, Donald had the privilege of participating in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., which became one of the highlights of his life. He worked for the General Telephone Company for 25 years where he was also a union officer.

On October 27, 1943, he was united in marriage to Elvira Vollenweider in Marathon City. They were fortunate to have celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary in 1993, Elvira preceded him in death on October 1, 1995 after 51 years of marriage. He also loved and supported his very best friend, Lucille Paiser, for over 10 years.

Donald loved nature and invited everyone to his home on Buckatoban Lake, where they enjoyed hunting, fishing and swimming. He was a professional fishing guide and always found the best fishing spots for his family and friends.

He raced Harley's all over the Midwest, and was a life-long member of the Rib Mountain Rider's Motorcycle Club. He built his own Hatz bi-plane which is now displayed at Doc's Harley Davidson. He volunteered at the EAA for over 25 years where he managed the "Home Built" section.

He is survived by: two daughters, Kathryn (James) Pribnow of Rothschild and Mary (Peter) Schreiner of Green Bay; grandchildren, Chrystal (Greg) Woller, Jacob (April) Pribnow, Cindy (Greg) Hoffman, Matthew (Erin) Schreiner, and Laura (Adam) Schreiner; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Madison, Ben, Jayden, and Jase; one brother, Kent Murdock of Shawano.

Donald was preceded in death by: his wife, Elvira; special friend, Lucille Paiser; his parents, Earl and Hertha; his brother, Larry Murdock; and his sisters-in-law, Janet Murdock and Betty Murdock.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano VFW Post #2723 at the Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers family will donate to the Veteran's Honor Flight.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chrissy, Mary Ann and Unity Hospice, angels in uniform.
