Donna R. Kroening, age 87, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, at Shawano Health Services Care Facility. She was born on August 16, 1937, to Gertrude and Ralph Kroening, and was baptized at Stony Hill Church by her grandfather, Reverend F. G. Cassens, in December of 1937.  Donna's ultimate love was music.  She was an accomplished pianist by the time she was a high schooler and regularly played piano and organ for the Episcopal Church and St. James Lutheran by her Junior year.  After high school, she received a scholarship to Sherwood Music School in Chicago. She remembered her tough, Russian piano instructor whom she requested "because he was the best".  A few of her favorite composers were Rachmaninoff, Liszt, and Chopin.   After college, Donna continued to live in Chicago for most of her adult life. Upon returning to Shawano, she was a member of the Hospital Auxilary and volunteered at an elementary school.

She is survived by her nephew, Dane (Tyler) Roloff, of Gillett, and niece, Amy (Don), grand-nieces Andrea, Erin and grand-nephew Nathan Lemkuil of Waupaca.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie, and sister Carol.

A private service and burial will be held by her family.
