Dorothy Marie Nickel, age 88 of Shawano, passed away Friday, August 03, 2012 at Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass. Born on August 17, 1923 in Green Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Esther (Lemoine) DeGroot. On September 15, 1973 she was united in marriage to Norman A. Nickel in Cato. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1987. Dorothy was a member of the St. Martins Catholic Church in Cecil. Dorothy is survived by: a stepdaughter, Carolyn Dewey of Sheboygan; a stepson, Bob (Vickie) Nickel of Hingham; 7 step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and a brother John (Arlene) DeGroot of Green Bay. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husband, Norman; a stepdaughter; and a step grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cecil with the Deacon Mike Grzeca officiating. Entombment will be in the Nicolet Memorial Gardens at Shrine of the Good Shepherd in Green Bay. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday after 10:00a.m.until the time of the service.
