Dorothy Louise Owen, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in Green Bay. She was born on September 13, 1922, to the late William and Sophia (Hoffman) Grosskopf in Shawano. On November 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Roger J. Owen in Shawano. He preceded her in death June 28, 1984. Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and served as a Girl Scout Leader.  She was very proud to have just received her 75-year Girl Scout Adult Award honoree certificate and pin. In her earlier years, she cleaned cottages on the lake and was a member and Secretary for the Eagle's Auxiliary. Dorothy was a big crafter and enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and quilting as was evident when others visited her house.  She always enjoyed the outdoors and being with nature. Dorothy was a very active woman and involved in many organizations such as the Women's Farm Bureau, Shawano Homemakers, Gray Ladies, Secretary – Treasurer of the Sacred Heart Missionary Society and was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. She worked for the Red Cross during the war and in later years, at the Senior Center, mostly in the gift shop. Dorothy also volunteered for the Green Apple Folk Music Festival. She was a generous person with her time and her possessions, donating a piano and other items to the Historical Society of Shawano.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Diane Owen; brother, Tom Grosskopf; grandchildren, Kathy (Donald) Lealiou, Theresa Kleist, Jeff Owen and Kelly Jahnke; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tanner, Tucker and Nicole; and great-great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Bentley. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many lifelong friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Roger; children, LeeEllen (Keith) Kleist and Daniel Owen; grandson-in-law, Mark Jahnke; and brothers and sister, Bill, Fredrick and Jean.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Shawano with Fr. Scott Valentyn officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:30 am at the church until the time of service. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Mausoleum following services.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Girl Scout Troop.
