Duaine A. Gast, age 70, of Shawano, passed away on July 23, 2019 in Appleton. He was born on June 27, 1949, in Shawano, to the late Ferdinand and Velma Joyce (Cunningham) Gast. Duaine proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He was a painter by trade and owned Duaine's Painting. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his time hunting and fishing. Duaine was a family man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He lived in Shawano his entire life.

Duaine is survived by: his children, Curt (Joana Remeikiene) Gast of Shawano and Jami (Ken) Quick of Prairie du Chien; His grandchildren, Kyle and Kailee Quick, Nicole and Jordan Van Oss, and Ana O'Brien; siblings, Claude Gast of Shawano, Bonnie (Willard) Raddant of Smyrna, TN, Joyce "Cookie" Krueger of Shawano, Gary (Maureen) Gast of Green Bay, Sandy (special friend Joe) Rusch of Shawano, Debbie Gast of Kaukauna, Bobbi Jo (Calvin) Chapin of Clintonville, and Robin (Tony) Wegner of Shawano; he is survived by many nieces and nephews including two special nephews Noah and Kristofor; his former wife and friend, Kay Gast; his special friend Jeanette Waupoose; and he is further survived by many other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Velma.

A funeral service will be held for Duaine at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at River Valley Church with Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Military honors will be held by Shawano AMVETS Post 10. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from noon until the time of the service.
