Duane Laverne Hovet, age 80 of Shawano, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Shawano. Born on January 27, 1938 at home near Goodridge, MN, he is a son of the late George and Evelyn (Anderson) Hovet.  On May 12, 1962, Duane was united in marriage to JoAnne Sletten at Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Creek.  Duane lived in South Milwaukee for 50 years.  He worked at Bucyrus-Erie in South Milwaukee.  After retiring, he moved to Shawano in 2001.  Duane enjoyed deer hunting, snowmobiling and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.

Duane is survived by: his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnne of Shawano; their three children, Kevin Hovet, Kelly Hovet and Kami Hovet all of Butler, WI; and one grandchild, Alex Hovet.  He is further survived by his sister, Marion Bessette; and four brothers, Vernon (Carol) Hovet, Roger (Vera) Hovet, Ronald Hovet and Curtis (Sharon) Hovet.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Gordon Hovet; and two sisters, Arlene Vad and Myrna Bessette.

Funeral services for Duane will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Oak Creek. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
