Duane Dennis Olson, age 90, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Duane was born in Shawano on June 17, 1931, to the late Alfred and Mildred (Haefs) Olson. Duane graduated from Shawano High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Korean War and retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. Duane was united in marriage to Morva "Midge" Mayer at Hollman Air Force Base in New Mexico on September 4 ^th , 1954. Duane and Midge enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. They took many memorable trips and enjoyed having their beloved granddaughter, Olivia, accompany them on some of their travels. Duane worked for Chicago-Northwestern railroad until his retirement. Some of Duane's fondest memories were of his fishing trips with friends and family in his younger years and his weekly Thursday afternoon Sheepshead games with a group of his close lifelong friends. Duane and Midge were members of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in White Clay Lake and Jerusalem Lutheran Church in the Town of Lunds were Duane served as treasurer for many years. Duane was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Duane's memory are his wife of 67 years, Morva "Midge" Olson; two sons Steven (Kathy Chaney) Olson of Shawano and Michael Olson of Shawano; a granddaughter, Olivia Olson of Milwaukee; two brothers, Delyle Olson of Appleton and Jerome Olson of Bonduel; sister-in-law, Charmaine Olson of Shawano; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mildred Olson, Sr. and his siblings, Verlyn, Alfred Jr., Sharon, Darlene, Norma, and Donna.

A funeral service for Duane will be held at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church-White Clay Lake at 11:00am on Saturday, November 13, 2021, with Rev. Marvin Ahlborne officiating. Military Honors will be conducted outside the church following the service by the Bonduel American Legion Post #210 of which Duane was a member. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery in the Town of Lunds. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday the 12 ^th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again at church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church White Clay Lake or Jerusalem Lutheran Church Town of Lunds.
