Edmund Anthony Stroik, age 92 of Shawano, formerly of Plover, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Shawano. Edmund was born on August 9, 1919 in Stevens Point, son of the late Charles and Johanna (Witkowski) Stroik. On October 10, 1953 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Harinek in Plover. Evelyn preceded him in death on February 24, 1979. Edmund worked in the maintenance department at the University of WI-Stevens Point until retirement. He was a member of the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cecil. In his free time, Edmund loved to feed the birds and work in his yard. He also loved polka music and never missed a church picnic. Edmund will always be remembered for his awesome sense of humor. Edmund is survived by his daughter, Mary Stroik of Shawano; nieces and nephews; his favorite pets, Turkey, Maggie and Sam; and special caring friends, Laurie Mansavage and Elsie Mansavage. Edmund was preceded in death by: his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Theresa; his parents; 3 sisters, Ann Coffman, Irene Miller, Marion Zygowicz; and 2 brothers, Joe and Raymond Stroik. Private family services were held. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano assisted the family with the arrangements.
