Edwin E. "Ed" Erbrecht, age 80 of Shawano, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 in Shawano. Born on March 14, 1932 in the Town of Germania, he was the son of the lat Edwin and Violet (Smith) Erbrecht. After graduating from high school, Ed enlisted with the United States Navy and served his county during the Korean War. On August 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mary Catencamp in Shawano. After marriage Ed worked for the DMV. In 1984 the couple moved to Shawano and became members of the St. James Lutheran Church. In his free time, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ed is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Mary; 2 children, Jamie Erbrecht, Steve Erbrecht of Cecil; 4 grandchildren, Tricia (Jeff) Miller, Tim (Casey) Wilmet, Amy Erbrecht, Samantha Christensen; and 4 great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Sydney, Charley and David. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117 at the church following the service. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday after 9:30am until the time of the service.
