Elaine M. Montour, age 95 of Shawano, died on Sunday, December 25, 2022. Elaine is the daughter of the late Edward and Myna (Chartier) Dahlke. She was born on November 25, 1927, and was raised in Wausau, Wisconsin. At an early age, the family moved to Shawano. Elaine attended St. James Lutheran School and Shawano High School. She met Robert "Sandy" Montour and they were married on October 4, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1989. Elaine and Sandy loved to travel. When Sandy was Sheriff, Elaine served as jail matron. Elaine held many county and township offices. Elaine was the Shawano County Register of Deeds and the Town of Wescott Treasurer.

Having been blessed with the gift of music, Elaine enjoyed sharing her gift with others, singing many solos, as well as participating in several trios, including the Songbirds Trio. Elaine donated much of her spare time volunteering for various organizations in Shawano and Shawano County, including Birch Hill, Safparc, Shawano City County Library, American Legion, and the VFW Auxiliary. She had strong work ethic, which was evident as she was still volunteering at Safparc daily. She was a devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Ralph) Mueller of Shawano, Kay (Tim) Marvin of Antigo; four grandchildren, Jay Mueller of Shawano, Marce Mueller of Milwaukee, Bert (Kristen) Marvin of Antigo, and Macy (Dan) Packard of Crandon. She is further survived by four great-grandchildren, Jordan Marvin, Madelyn Marvin, Cilla Packard and Calli Packard; along with her sister-in-law, Shirley Montour; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, with Rev. Andrew Zobel officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lake Drive Cemetery. The family requests no flowers for the visitation or the service.

The Montour family would like to thank the Shawano ThedaCare Emergency Room staff, Shawano City Police and Shawano Ambulance Service for their compassionate help, concern and exceptional service in our time of need. Special thanks to Coroner Brian Westfahl for going out of his way to help our family deal with the loss of our mother and grandmother.
