Elda Mittag, age 90 of Gillett, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Woodlands in Gillett. Born on December 10, 1922 in Gillett, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nora (Moede) Seich. On June 4, 1944 she was united in marriage to Albert "Fred" Mittag in Gillett. Fred preceded her in death in 1977. Elda was a housewife who took great pride in raising her children. She enjoyed gardening and always had a large garden filled with well tended fruits and vegetables. When not outside gardening, Elda loved being inside baking and cooking. Later in life, Elda moved to the Woodlands where she enjoyed all the activities, especially the church service and bingo. Elda was a member of the former Emanuel Lutheran Church in Gillett. Elda is survived by: her daughter, Sharon (Phillip) Heistad of White Lake; her son, David (Ludene) Mittag of Pulaski; 4 grandchildren, Kyra (Roy) Klauer, Ayn (Brent) Hess, Daniel Mittag, Jennifer (Scott) McDonald; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Derrick Hess and Liam McDonald. Elda was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred; 2 sons, Clarence and Raymond Mittag; and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Burial will be in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gillett. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday starting at 11:00am until the time of the service.
