Obituary

Eldor Edward Martzke, age 93, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. Eldor was born on May 12, 1926, in the town of Richmond, to the late Theodore and Alma (Lindner) Martzke. On October 22, 1949, Eldor was united in marriage to Norma Buettner at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church. Eldor and Norma together farmed the Martzke Homestead. He has been a lifelong member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church. Eldor was a member of several organizations, including the Men's Club at St. Jakobi, Red River Sportmans Club, and Richmond Ball Club. He had many interests that included fishing, especially the occasional trips with his buddies, and hunting for bear, deer, and coon. Eldor enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed being able to watch his grandchildren participate in sports.

Eldor is survived by: his wife of nearly 70 years, Norma; his daughter, Pam (Rick) Sperberg; his daughter-in-law, Roxy Martzke; his grandchildren, Jason (Käryn) Martzke of Fall Creek, Craig (Brandi) Sperberg of Shawano, and Amber (friend, Rick Habeck) Riesenberg of Shawano; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cameron, and Jaelyn Martzke, Emma Jones, Brock, Baylee, and Brea Sperberg, and Brett, Barric, and Braxton Riesenberg; his brother, Vernon Martzke; Norma's brothers and sisters, Marvin (Elfrieda) Buettner, Betty Booras, Marcia Buettner, and Will (Virginia) Buettner. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Theodore and Alma Martzke; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Viola Buettner; two sons, James and Michael Martzke; one daughter-in-law, Karen (Gumaer) Martzke; two brothers, Willard and Kenneth Martzke; sisters-in-law, Gwen Martzke, Donna Martzke, Rosie Martzke, and Judy Buettner; brothers-in-law, Roger Buettner, John Buettner, Dan Buettner, and Lou Booras.

A funeral service will be held for Eldor at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church with Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Jakobi Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at church from 9:00 am until the time of service.
