Elmer Fred Grosskopf, age 84 of Bowler, passed away Wednesday, June 06, 2012 in Appleton. Born on January 17, 1928 in Tilleda, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Lillian (Carlson) Grosskopf. After graduating from high school, Elmer enlisted with the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from service, Elmer worked in road construction. He later owned and operated the school bus service in Bowler until returning to working road construction for the Town of Bartelme. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Elmer is survived by: his wife Jane Welch-Grosskopf; 6 children, April (James) Allikas of Bowler, Chris (Dan) Jury of Neenah, Debra (Tom Carley) Rebro of Green Bay, Renee (Joe) Jent of Milwaukee, Darrell (fiancé, Susan Clay) Erickson of Gresham, Dan Erickson of Milwaukee, Donna Lee (Donald) Koepsel of Bailey's Harbor; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Janice Grosskopf of Bowler, Lorraine Grosskopf of Shawano; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Donald Erickson, Dean Erickson; 2 grandsons, Jimmy Allikas, Jr., Joey Kitzman; his parents; 2 brothers, Melvin, Leonard; and a sister, Barbara Miller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, Gresham with the Rev. Karl Thompson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Gresham American Legion Post #390 at the church following the service. Inurnment will be in the Highland Cemetery in the Town of Bartelme.
