Erma M. Jeske, age 101 passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in Green Bay. Born on September 22, 1910 in Winnebago County, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Rose (Polyok) Deak. On June 12, 1928 she was united in marriage to Fredrick Jeske. He preceded her in death in 1985. Erma lived in the Shawano area since 1937 and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church. Besides working at the canning factory in Clintonville, Erma spent a great deal of her time volunteering. She had volunteered at Lakeland Industries up until December of last year and was also active with the Special Olympics. Erma was even awarded the State Honor as the Volunteer of Year in 2010. She was also honored in the newspaper on her 100th birthday last year. When not volunteering Erma loved to quilt, especially baby quilts. She also a member of the A.A.R.P. Erma called Oak Haven home for the past 12 years and referred to those that lived there as her family. Erma is survived by her sister, Alice Ernst of Shawano; numerous nieces and nephews including, Angeline Rogers of Neenah, John (Mary) Starcheske of Manawa, Maxine (Herb) Fenske of Greenville, Claudia (Gary) Krueger of Manawa, Joyce Jeske of Bonduel, Sandra (Keith) Krueger of New London, Corrine (Mike) O'Leary of OR, Nancy Hein of LaCrosse, Julie Deak of OR, Louie Deak of OR, Laura (Chet) VanVleet; and many very special friends. Erma was preceded in death by: her husband, Fredrick; her son. Allen; her parents; 4 sisters, Aurelia Haase, Ethel Beyer, Lillie Starcheske, Vila (Robert) Seubert; and 5 brothers, Louis, Steve and John Deak, Victor (Emma) Jeske and Ted (Mildred) Jeske. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 9:30am until the time of the service.
