Ernest Gene "Sonny" Vogelsang, age 87, passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2023, in Shawano. Sonny was born on March 30, 1936, to the late Otto and Erma (Seeger) Vogelsang in Visalia, California. He served his country proudly. On July 15, 1961, Sonny was united in marriage to Marie Peters, in Morgan Siding. Maria preceded him in death in 2018. Sonny had lived in California for over 40 years, before moving to Gresham in 2002.

Sonny is survived by his children, Brian (Peggy) Vogelsang, Toni (Kevin) Henderson and Bradley Vogelsang; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Emily Adair, of California. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Sonny is preceded in death by his wife, Marie, a son, Paul, great-granddaughter, Kylee and a brother, Clarence.

A funeral service for Sonny will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 6, 2023, at Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Gordon Oliver officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of service at church. Burial will be at the church cemetery at a later date. Military Honors will be conducted by Gresham American Legion Post 390 and the Mohican Veterans at the church.
