Obituary

Eugene Frederick King, Sr., age 73, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay with his son, Carl, wife, Priscilla and his closest companion, his dog, Diamond nearby.08/19/1948

Gene was born in Keshena, August 19, 1948. He lost his mother at the age of 13, the oldest of ten children. He attended St. Joseph School and St. Michael's Church. Gene was proud of his Native American heritage, Menominee and Oneida on his dad's side, and German on his mom's. He quit school at an early age and eventually went to the 4-wheel drive in Clintonville with his dad. There, Gene lost his right arm at the age of eighteen. Handicap was not in his vocabulary. Offered a job back at the Drive, he wouldn't take an office job. He was down with all the guys and retired after forty-four years. He did body work, painting, hydraulics, and more. Gene stood proud with his fellow workers with the fire truck sent to New York after 9/11. He married in April of 1969 to Judith Wilbur and had three children before they divorced. He married again in June of 1979 to Priscilla Dalum. This began a whole new chapter in their lives.

Gene received a kidney transplant but that didn't slow him up! Gene was involved in so many activities with people who became like family to him. There are his fishing or hunting families, and the friends who helped work on cars including his brother, Marty. He also built a go cart and raced with his son Carl forming close friendships at events. He plowed snow for ice racing with family and the summer race cars with neighbor, Mike Babino #82. Gene's motorcycle family spans many years. He toured all of Wisconsin as well as 26 states and Canada. Gene participated in several charity rides: Packerland, Make A Wish, Red River Riders as well as worked for ten years on the planning committee for The Miracle Run which benefitted the Children's Hospital. For the last couple of years, he supported Abate of WI and the Awareness of Motorcycles on the Road and Cyclists Rights. Gene volunteered at the Shawano Historical Society events and his newest family was the Habitat for Humanity organization. Everyone would agree that you could count on Gene to help out and do what was needed from cutting trees, putting in doors, or putting down a floor. He didn't like painting walls though cars were okay. Gene showed us that HANDICAP is just a state of mind.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla and their son, Carl; estranged children, Tina Edwards, Eugene Jr. and son Chris; brothers and sisters, Marty (Yvonne) King, Jim (Denise) King, Sheila (Tim) Otto, Dawn King, Gail (Kem) Pederson, Debbie Miller, Mary King, Sara King, and Reilia Price; and half-sisters, Cindy Sparks, Faye Seymour, and Rhoa "Corky" Cox.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Bennett King III.
