Eugene E. Kroening, age 72, of Tilleda, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Shawano. Born on January 24, 1945 in Bonduel, he was the son of the late Maynard and Bernice (Knueppel) Kroening. In January of 1994, Eugene was united in marriage to Jenny Schultz in Tilleda. Jenny preceded him in death in 2003. Eugene served our country for over 20 years in the United States Army until his honorable discharge on May 31, 1983. Following his retirement from the military, he worked in landscaping for over 30 years. Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at Captain's Cove and his trips to Texas.
Eugene is survived by: his significant other, Ruth Petersen; his daughters, CPT Jackie (CW4 Jaime) Craig of El Paso, TX, Sherry Ann Roth of San Antonio, TX, and Susanne (Clayton) Hutchinson of San Antonio, TX; two granddaughters, Jessica Bernice and Vanessa Marie; two step-daughters, Debbie Buss of Clintonville and Judy Walbruck of Arbor Vitae; as well as two brothers, Donald (Barbara) Kroening of Shawano and Robert (Judy) Kroening of Leopolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny, his former wife, Rosel Kissing and his parents.
Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda with Vicar Lois Graper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda.
