Eugene Jerry Schmidt, age 75 of Bonduel, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Green Bay. Born on November 18, 1937 at his home in the Town of Lessor, he was the son of the late Louis and Helen (Heimer) Schmidt. He attended Landstad School for 1st-4th grade, St. Paul Lutheran School for 5th-8th grade and Bonduel High School for two years. Eugene then tended the family farm until the age of 18 when he was drafted into the United States Army where he served one year in the United States and one year in Korea. After returning home, Eugene also returned to farming until his retirement in the early 1990's. Eugene was good friends with many people in the Amish community and enjoyed spending his last years driving them around. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Eugene is survived by: 2 sisters, Lois Peek of Oconto Falls, Doris Schmidt of Bonduel; a niece, Norma (Kenny) LaPlante of Green Bay; and 2 nephews, James Peek of Oconto Falls and John (Jana) Peek of Fort Collins, CO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 4-8pm and on Wednesday from 10am until the time of the service.
