Obituary

Fern B. Chrap, age 98, of Clintonville formerly of Camp Douglas, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, April 11, 2016 at her daughter's home. Fern was born on March 26, 1918, in Havre, Montana, the daughter of the late Eric and Esther (Larsen) Eastlund.  After graduating from high school, Fern went on to nursing school, graduating in 1939.  On January 25, 1941, she became the loving wife of Elroy E. Chrap, who preceded her in death, September 11, 2002.  Fern lived in the Milwaukee area most of her life.  She worked as a registered nurse for the City of West Allis.  Fern loved the outdoors, and had an interest in bird watching and lapidary classes.    She was a Girl Scout leader, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary.  Fern was a stay at home homemaker, and was the book-keeper, secretary for the company her husband owned. She enjoyed visiting with friends, and for many years hosted Bible studies in her home.  More than anything, Fern's family meant the world to her and always came first.  Fern moved to Camp Douglas, WI in 2001, and was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Tomah, WI.

Fern is survived by: one daughter, Sandra (Joseph) Mass of Clintonville; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Karen) Clements, Lisa (Ron) Organ, Michelle Winchell, Wendy Ruehle, Brad (Linda) Ruehle, Brenda (Paul) Hicks, Andrew (Janet) Mass, Jeffrey (Ellen) Mass; 18 great-grandchildren, Cody, Megan, Katie, Dustin, Kaleigh, Jacob, Daniel, Jessica, Kayla, Nathan, Hannah, Rachel, Micah, Brianna, Emelia, Olivia, Adam, and Abigail; three great great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Hailee, and Hayden.  She is further survived by four sisters, Minnie Frew, Winnifred Arhelger, Echo (Robert) Davis, and Jeaneen (Farral) Smith; one son-in-law, Don Clements, and one sister-in-law, Jan Eastlund as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy; two daughters, Penny Clements, and Dixie Ruehle; her parents; and her siblings, Glenn Eastlund, Paulina Schweitzer, and two year old sister, Dixie.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Open Door Baptist Church in Tomah, WI with Pastor Cass Shell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial to the Gideon's International would be appreciated.

Fern's family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Compassus Hospice, especially to Tara and Becky.
