Flora Munoz, age 90, of Keshena, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in Shawano. Flora was born in Keshena on January 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Russell and Mary (O'Kimosh) Barnes. Flora's mother passed away at an early age and Flora was raised by her grandmother, Neyatamo O'Kimosh. On May 27, 1961, Flora was united in marriage to Epimenio "Frank" Munoz in Keshena. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2001. Flora's first language was Menominee and she was one of the last living fluent Menominee speakers. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories from the "old days". In her free time, she enjoyed watching the birds. Flora was a loving mother and grandmother and also cared for over 80 foster children over the years.
Flora is survived by: her children, Laurie Barnes of Keshena, Roberta (Guy) Grignon of Keshena, Antoinette (Ken) Bundick of Oshkosh, Ardith Barnes of Shawano, Mario Munoz of Keshena, and Kristie (Larry) Lindner of Shawano; 13 grandchildren, Beth (Ron) Waukau of Keshena, Patricia Schanandore of Middle Village, Pat (Traci) Peters of Oshkosh, Jerry (Jean) Grignon of Keshena, Jackie Grignon of Keshena, Derrick Grignon of Keshena, Lori Barnes of Green Bay, Erin Munoz of Leopolis, Evan Munoz of Keshena, Emily Munoz of Keshena, Lee, Luke, and Landon Lindner of Shawano; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Beverly (Joe) Westwood.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank; her daughter, Aleeta Paulette in infancy; one granddaughter, Tammy Peters-Lett; one great-grandson, Lance Fish; her parents; and her siblings, John, Gloria, and Edward Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena with Rev. Loretto "Tom" Soto officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Munoz residence, N1251 State Hwy 47, Keshena on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4:00 pm until the procession leaves for the church on Thursday.
