Frank E. Polkowski, Shawano, passed away June 11, 2017. Born in Evanston, IL, he is the son of the late Ruth (Meier) and Frank Polkowski, Sr. He grew up in Deerfield, IL, graduated from Deerfield High School and Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. On November 11, 1978, Frank was united in marriage to Peggy Reed at St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour, WI. Frank retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2011. He was his sons' biggest fan, watching them play sports and coaching basketball. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and playing cards. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and valued most, his time with his family making summer memories at Loon Lake.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 39 years, Peggy (Reed) Polkowski; loving children, Greg (Stephanie) Polkowski and John (Sarah) Polkowski; grandchildren, William, Nolan, and Bennett; his brother, James (Carol) Polkowski; his sister, Kathy (Dan) Fillenwarth; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Randy (Ann) Reed, Julie Reed, Connie (Reed) Reinhardt, Mark Reinhardt and Paul Reed; his step-father, Vic Gutt; step sister, Bonnie (Larry) Grosskopf; step brother, Dan (Carol) Gutt; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Ruth Polkowski Gutt and Frank Polkowski, Sr. and his in-laws, Dorothy and Don Reed.
A Memorial Mass for Frank will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the Jimmy V. Foundation for cancer research.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Gustave Morel, Dr. Xin Yao, Dr. Nathan Munson and staff as well as Heartland Hospice and caregivers, Mary and Bill for all the wonderful care given to Frank.
