Fred C. "Smiley" Pieper, age 79 of Gresham, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at his home. Born on October 27, 1933 in Sampson, he was the son of the late Fred and Ida (Hess) Pieper. On September 5, 1970 he was united in marriage to Renee Hoffman in Michigan. Fred worked for Foreway Express for more than 28 years. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and hunting. Fred is survived by: his wife, Renee; 3 children, Kenneth (Donna) Pieper of Rice Lake, Roni Sue Schultz of Gresham, Jami (Robert) Ninham of Gresham; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tricia, Tony, Cierra; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Karen) Pieper of Shawano; and 2 sisters, Helen (Bob) Paiser of Leopolis and Verna Buntrock of Hortonville. Fred was preceded in death by: his parents; and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham with the Rev. Roland Golz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Cemetery, Gresham.
