Frederick William Lemke, 83, of Gresham, passed away on October 7, 2013 at his home. Fred was born in Gresham to Fred O. and Martha Lemke on June 20, 1930. He was married to Janice Stoehr of Gresham on April 21, 1954 until her death in 1980. Fred married Betty Schwerke on December 26, 1992. In the early 1950s, he served in the United States Army in allied-occupied Germany. Over the course of his career, he worked for the Shawano Paper Mill, Steir's Hardware and Rexnord Industries. Fred was known for his quick wit; love of family, nature and travel; an amazing ability to repair things; his generosity to friends; and his well-known raspberry patch. Fred is survived by: wife, Betty; children, Thomas (Joanne) of Mequon, WI, Michael (Amy Maria) of Petersburg, IL, Lori (Brien) Farley; granddaughters, Elise and Nora Farley of Waukesha; brother, Norman Lemke; and sister, Bea. Fred Lemke was preceded in death by: his first wife, Janice; parents, Fred O. and Martha; and brothers, Harry, Theodore, and Roger Nietzer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. On Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, W8089 Cty Road A, Shawano with Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Gresham American Legion Post #390 at the church following the service. Burial will follow at St. Francis Solanus Cemetery, Gresham, with members of the immediate family in attendance. Visitation will be at Swedberg Funeral Home, Gresham, WI, on Thursday, October 10, from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday, October 11 from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be given to St. Jakobi Building Fund and to St. James Lutheran School.
