Genevieve "Gen" Christine Tomow, age 74, of Keshena passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Oconto Falls. She was born on June 4, 1948 to the late William and Gen (Heath) Matchopatow in Keshena. On January 29, 1966 she was united in marriage to Bernard J. "Joe" Tomow. Gen was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was an Administrative Assistant for the Menominee Tribe until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, sewing, watching tv and going out to eat.
Gen is survived by: her children, Linda Tourtillott, Alan Tomow, Sr., Jerilynn (Daniel) Carson, Daniel (Mary) Tomow, and John (Tina) Mueller; 25 grandchildren, Jeri, Bruce, Bernard, Lynsay, Alan, Jr., Natasha, Lariah, Kemewan, Madeline, Joseph, Sonny, Wayne, Shane, Genevieve, Téa, Aidyn, Dale, Joy, Danielle, Daniel, Jr., Michael, Natasha, Jada, Orlondo and Maurice; 31 great-grandchildren; and siblings, William Matchopatow, Marvin Matchopatow, Robert Matchopatow, Allen Matchopatow, Roger Matchopatow, Frieda (Alvin) Krueger, Mavis Matchopatow, and Amy Matchopatow. She is further survived by, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Bernard; her parents; and her siblings, Russell Matchopatow, Beverly Matchopatow and an infant brother, Alan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the David Barrett Hall at St. Michael's in Keshena until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. The family would appreciate masks being worn for everyone's protection. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Meadowbrook Nursing Home and St. Claire Hospital in Oconto Falls for their excellent care of Gen.
