IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George William
Fiedler, Iii
February 2, 1942 – June 12, 2019
George William Fiedler III, age 77, went to be with the Lord after a courageous fight with cancer, at his home surrounded by family on June 12, 2019, in Gresham, Wisconsin.
George was born in Tinley Park, Illnois on February 2, 1942 to George William Fiedler II and Mildred Rose (Schmidt) Fiedler. He was an Eagle Scout and also served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 6 years. He was united in marriage on July 11, 1964 to Carol (Anderson) Fiedler. Together they followed their dream by purchasing a farm in Gresham, Wisconsin in 1969. He had a love for farming and driving semi; he did both for many years. He was especially proud of his two-tone green Kenworth semi-truck. He also owned a cow/calf operation called Hillview Polled Herefords.
He loved spending time on Lake Owen in Hayward, Wisconsin where he fished with his dad as a young man, honeymooned with his wife, and later had a cabin where he taught his children and grandchildren to boat, fish, and enjoy the outdoors. He was passionate about teaching and sharing his knowledge about everything and anything with his family, friends, and most importantly his grandsons. He was a founding member of Community Baptist Church in Shawano, Wisconsin. He was a foster parent from 1982 – present, impacting many young lives in Shawano County.
He is survived by his wife Carol of 55 years; daughters, Karen (Dave Kaehr), Debby (Bruce Stevenson), and Katherine (David Shubinski); his foster daughter, Michelle Roth; his seven grandsons, Alec and Isiah Koenen, Austin (Amanda), Drew, Noah, Eli Kallies, and Jack Shubinski; his lifelong friend, Bob Snyder; his brothers, Dave, Ron, and Dan; his sisters, Judy and Sharon; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his firstborn and only son, George William Fiedler IV who went to be with the Lord at 15 years of age in 1981. We rejoice they are reunited in heaven.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday, June 21, 2019. Military honors will be given by the Shawano AmVets Post #10 following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday from noon until the time of services at Swedberg Funeral Home.
A special thanks to Unity Hospice for all of the care given to George. Also, thank you also to all of our family and friends for your continued support.
