Obituary

George Obee Retzlaff, age 49, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at his home in Bowler, Wisconsin. He was born on May 19, 1970, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, the son of George H. Retzlaff and Sandra Peper. George was a 1988 graduate of Reedsburg Area High School and worked for Lunda Construction until 1993. He went back to school and graduated from MATC-Madison with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he worked as a certified land surveyor, covering much of Northwestern Wisconsin. He did not like running from bears and getting poison ivy, so he obtained his CDL license and drove truck for his father's company, until he was ready to start his own company, Why Not Trucking. He retired in 2017 and moved "up north" and bought a bar in Bowler called George's Eagle's Nest. In school, he was very active in the FFA and out-running cops.  He loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting, always providing food for his friends and family. George loved fishing in Canada, AC/DC, bonfires, fast cars, watching football and having fun with friends and family…sharing a burst of Wisers.

George was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Alice Retzlaff, maternal grandparents, Herold and LaVita Peper, and his beloved cousin, Nathan Flick.

He is survived by: his parents, George H. Retzlaff  of Gresham/Reedsburg and Sandra Peper of Bowler/Loganville; sisters, Ann Retzlaff of Gresham/Reedsburg and Rebecca Retzlaff of Baraboo; nephews and nieces, Cohlmann Hinz of Rocksprings, Lilly Hinz of Baraboo, Ian, Rhianna, and Gavann Retzlaff Rigsby of Gresham; his counterparts of the 3-musketeers, Brian "Herbie" Berning and Brian "Pedro" Marshall; several cousins, aunts and uncles, along with other relatives and friends.
