IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George A.
Walter
November 27, 1952 – October 29, 2022
George A. Walter was born on November 27, 1952, to George Andrew Walter and Frances Joan Neconish-Walter. He stepped into the spirit world in the afternoon of October 29, 2022, at the age of 69.
George's life wasn't about accomplishments or goals, although he had many. In fact, he hardly made plans if he didn't have to and his life was quite literally 'by the drop'. He was born into a family that rooted far and wide and he had friends he cherished for a lifetime. During his working years, he worked hard with his logging brothers because in those woods was where his spirit was free; it was the best job he ever had. Throughout his years, he passed on that love of the woods to his children and grandchildren, creating unforgettable lessons and moments for them to always remember.
George will live in the memories of all those he called "my people" as he'd visit with them for hours, having good times with countless bursts of laughter. He was regularly referred to as "Georgie Walters" and everyone knew who that was. George had a big warm heart and taught his children that elders were just as important as our children and making sure they were taken care of was the best thing we could do for our family. He enjoyed listening to the blues and watching 70's tv shows. He tied flies in his free time and his flies were sought after by many members of the community. There were many genuine characteristics that George was known for and everyone who knew him has at least one story with him in it.
George is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Liz), his kids; Catherine "Cat" (Kris) and their children; Joseph and Olivia, Reanna and her children, Israel, Jorge, Joel, Alexa, Angel, and Alyssa, Marsha and her children; Carlos and Andrew, Ryan and his children; Karian, Ryan Jr., Santavia, Gabriel, Davier, and Michael, Susan and her children; Indigo and Tego "Spirit", stepson James, Rebecca (Mike) and their children, Mariza, Eva, Makayla, Ciara, Grayson, and Patricia, Vaughn and his children; Benson "Nekanehsaew" and Bentley "Koqnaen". George is also survived by brothers and sisters; Patricia, Catherine, Randy, Frank, James, Allen, and Michael. He is also survived by many, many cousins and aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, his father-in-law, his logging brothers, and those lifelong friends.
He was preceded by dear family who journeyed before him; his parents, his grandparents Isadore "Ike" and Catherine "Kitty" Neconish, many aunts and uncles, his sister Georgianna, nephew Carl, his brother Harley, brother-in-law Edward Long, and some of his dearest friends.
Services for George will be traditional, located at the Zoar Ceremonial Building beginning Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 3:00 pm, with Joey Awonohopay officiating. Services will continue until burial on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 130 pm at the Zoar Indian Burial Grounds.
George's family would like to thank the Menominee Tribal Emergency Medical Service and the Emergency Staff at Theda Care Shawano for their efforts to keep him with us.
