Gerald “Jerry” Orrin Steif, age 82, of Bonduel, passed away at his home on Friday, March 13, 2026. Jerry was born in Neenah on August 24, 1943, son of the late William and Marie (Schwartzkopf) Steif. After graduating from Neenah High School, he enlisted in the Air Force on June 14, 1962, where he served as an Aerospace Hospital Medic. He was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base. He served two tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1982.
Jerry was united in marriage September 25, 1982, to Roxanne “Roxie” Silvernail at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They lived in Larimore, ND until moving to Bonduel in 1988. Jerry was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time in the barn. He liked playing cribbage and bocce ball and was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was also proud of achieving 23 years of sobriety. Jerry was a giving and fair father, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his wisdom and dry sense of humor, even though he often appeared serious. Many people sought him out for advice, and he was always a great listener.
Jerry is survived by his wife Roxie; children, Jerilyn (fiancé Tom) Landrum, Todd Steif, Tasha (Henry) Steif, and Karissa (Chris) Schantz; grandchildren, Andrew Randall, Austin Landrum, Rida Steif, Isiah Genz, Jenna Williams, and Ashton Williams; great-grandchildren, Logan Randall and Liam Belz; sister, Marlene Steif; and sisters-in-law, Patty Bauman and Micki Steif. He is further survived by his honorary grandkids, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; son, Joshua Steif; and brothers, Bob Steif, Ormin Steif, and Howard Steif in infancy.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Ryan Fehrmann officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm then again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will be held in the church cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Bonduel Legion. Patrons are invited to attend the luncheon after the burial.
