Gladys Eva Berkhahn, age 89 of the Town of Hartland, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Shawano. Born on January 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Erna (Bankert) Lawrenz. She grew up in the Town of Washington along with her 4 sisters. On September 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harvey Berkhahn at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at White Clay Lake. After marriage the couple farmed in the Gresham area for several years before moving to the Town of Hartland, where Gladys would live the rest of her life. When not helping with the farm, Gladys enjoyed entering contests and throughout the years had won many prizes including cars and microwaves. She also spent countless hours ridding her beautiful flower garden of those detested weeds. Gladys also enjoyed attending auctions, raising feeder pigs and loved to go dancing with her husband. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel where she was active in the Mission Circle. She was also a member of the Wives of Farm Bureau. Gladys is survived by: a daughter, Ruth (Raul) Aldana of Bonduel; 2 sons, Roy Berkhahn of East Glacier Park, MT, Ross (Pam) Berkhahn of Bonduel; 6 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice (Joe) Naumann of Advance; brother-in-laws, Earl "Butch" (Kathy) Berkhahn, Irvin Samp; sister-in-laws, Delores Rooks, Delores Berkhahn; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by: her husband, Harvey on April 22, 2000; her parents; and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm and at the church on Thursday from 10am until the time of the service.
