Glen A. "Jack" Barry, age 86 of Shawano, died on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Born on May 20, 1933 in Richland Center, WI, to the late Jack and Ruth (Ingmire) Barry. Glen was united in marriage to Lois Bakken on June 23, 1955 in Madison. Glen enlisted in the United State Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. The couple moved to Shawano in 1962 where he worked at Wisconsin Finance/ Computer Systems until his retirement. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, was a past secretary for the church and also a member of Shawano Rotary Club. Glen enjoyed golfing, skiing, gardening and loved his dog Jocko.
Glen is survived by his four children, Betsy (Jim) Audetat of Goodyear, AZ, Tom (Patti) Barry of Green Bay, Michael (Crystal) Barry of Franklin, Jack (Joanne) Barry of New Zealand; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie (s.f. Mike Frentrop) Schutt, Brandon (s.f. Cassie McKinnon) Schutt, Maxwell (s.f. Jordan Armstrong) Barry, Brigette Barry, Amanda (s.f. Kyle Welsh) Barry, Brooke Barry, Cassandra Barry and J.D. Barry; 2 step grandsons, Scott Audetat, Todd (s.f. Kari Marie Vail) Audetat; 2 step great-grandchildren, Parker and Kylie Audetat and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 60 years, Lois.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Steve Schauder officiating. Military rites will be conducted following service. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials for Glen may be directed to the Shawano County Humane Society, 1290 Jaycee Court, Shawano, WI 54166.
