Gordon Stuart Pennycook, age 86, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Appleton.
Gordie was born in Janesville on November 8, 1929, the son of the late Stuart and Anna (Kersten) Pennycook.
On April 22, 1950, Gordie was united in marriage to Audrey Ann Carroll.
He worked at International Harvester for 33 years, retiring in 1986.
Gordie was a member of the Lions Club for 54 years.
He received many awards, including Lion of the Year from Shawano Lake Lion in 1991, Mel Jones Award from Lions Club International Foundation in 1994, Lions President Appreciation Award from Shawano Lake Lions in 2001, and the Birch-Sturm Fellowship from Wisconsin Lions Foundation.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, and watching the Packers and Brewers.
Gordon is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Audrey; their children, Sue (Dennis), Jan (Michael), Linda, and Bill (Emmy); nine grandchildren, Andy, Matt, Eric, Sara, Paul, Nicole, Lisa, Ryan, and Zack; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Shirley Pennycook.
He was preceded in death by:
his infant son, Thomas; his parents, one brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Karen); his in-laws, Dave and Sandy McCulloch, Dick and Mary Brookins; and one son-in-law, David Bandauski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating.
Inurnment will be in Milton Lawn Cemetery in Janesville at a later date.
Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Shawano Lake Lions or to the building fund for Zion Lutheran Church.
