Gregory J. Gauthier, Sr., "Māēc Enāēmakim -Big Thunderbird," age 55 of Neopit, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 27, 1958 in Shawano, he was the son of Theodore and Cynthia (Winneshiek) Gauthier, Sr. After attending college, Gregory worked for Menominee Tribal Enterprise. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a quiet man, he loved to visit with everyone and loved to tease. He also loved the casino. Gregory had a strong belief in the Indian Ways and took pride in passing on his knowledge. Gregory is survived by: 4 children, Jeannine (Jeff Dickenson) Gauthier of Keshena, Jamie (Soulaxay Soukhaphaly) Gauthier of Keshena, Greg (Cherie Thunder) Gauthier, Jr. of Oshkosh, Forrest Gauthier of Madison; 3 grandchildren, Lorenzo, Damian, Anaya; his parents, Theodore and Cynthia Gauthier, Sr. of Neopit; his God Daughter, Lottie Tucker; 12 siblings, Spencer Gauthier, Sr., Frank (Gail) Gauthier, Theodore (Doreen) Gauthier, Jr., Lelia (Kevin Kaquatosh) Gauthier, Bernadette Gauthier, Cynthia (Daryl, Sr.) Tucker, Brian Gauthier, Diana (Robert) Waukau, Jonathan Garcia, Lydia Garcia, Letecia Hernandez, Alisha Hernandez; aunt, Dorothy (Joseph) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gregory was preceded in death by: his granddaughter, Arianna; and a brother, Ben Ben Hernandez. Traditional Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Gauthier residence located at N1250 State Hwy 47, Neopit. Burial will be at the Gauthier Homestead.
