Obituary

Harold Theodore "Ted" Rudie, Jr., aged 85, passed away on Wednesday December 20, 2023, in Shawano surrounded by family. Ted was born on April 10, 1938, in Phelps, Wisconsin to the late Harold T. and Lempi (Paakkonen) Rudie, Sr. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1956. Ted took the farm short course at the University of Madison. On December 17th, 1960, he was married to his first wife Judy Odness at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Ted and Judy had 40 loving years before her passing in 2000. On September 20, 2002, he married Mary Ann Baehler Wilharm. Ted worked at many places for the years before retiring including, a hospital in St. Paul, MN, worked on DHIA, Uncle's Farm, American Courier at Nat and Dons Station, farmed for 11 years, he was assessor for Lessor for 11 years, he was head sawer at Sorenson's Sawmill, drove tour bus for 12 years and was a Shawano County Deputy Coroner. In retirement, Ted purchased a portable sawmill and went all over the state cutting lumber. Ted was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. He loved spending winter months in Arizona.

Ted is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Ann; children, Christine (Neil) Rudie, Dennis (Leann) Rudie, Paul (Linda Marquart) Rudie, and Annie (Jay) Thomley; grandchildren, Bradley (Christine) Rudie, Nick (Molly) Whalen, Shelby Whalen, Amanda (Shaun) Hilgart, Amelia (Cameron) Kovalk, Matthew Kovacevich, Stephanie (Nate) Raddant; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Delilah and Carter; and siblings, Richard Rudie, Marian Miller and Irene Buboltz.

Ted is preceded in death by his first wife, Judy and parents, Harold and Lempi.

A funeral service for Ted will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday December 26, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Memorial donations may be directed toward Zion Lutheran Church or charity of your choice.
