Obituary

Harvey J. Mueller, age 76, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, in Shawano. He was born on April 19, 1946, to the late Edward and June (Tucker) Mueller in Milwaukee. Harvey was united in marriage to Nan Marquardt on September 27, 1975, at Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. Together they built a marriage of 47 years. Harvey proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1965 until he was honorably discharged in 1969.  After his enlistment, he became a truck driver for Genex/Badger Breeders until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed many activities in his free time including deer hunting, fishing, Sudoku puzzles, crosswords, solitaire, cribbage, Uno and Sheepshead. Harvey also loved to golf.  In 2009 he was the Shawano Lake Golf Course Club Championship winner.  He also got a Hole in One on August 26, 2012, at Black Bear Trail.  Another one of Harvey's favorite pastimes was bowling.  He served as past President, Secretary or Director of the Shawano Bowling Association, coached a junior bowling league, and was inducted into the bowling hall of fame.  Harvey will always be known for his many jokes.

Many lives were touched by his involvement including his church where he was a member of the Men's Breakfast group, ushering and volunteering often for the church chili dinners. He was also a member of the Shawano American Legion post 117, Shawano VFW post #2327, Shawano AMVETS post #10 and DAV – Disabled American Veterans. As an active veteran, he was the Financial Secretary and Commander for the American Legion, acted as rifleman for many military honors, was Financial Secretary of the VFW and helped his post earn Legion of the Year in 2016. He former leader for Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops and ran the non-professional Wolf River Tournament for many years.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Nan; children, Stephanie Mueller and Scott Mueller; one sister, Enola (Keith) Caraway; one brother, Russell Mueller; and sister-in-law, Joan Mueller.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harvey is preceded in death by: his son, Edward Arnold during infancy; stepfather, Donald Carnicom; two brothers, Glen and Lawrence; and father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Edna Marquardt.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Peace United Church of Christ with Rev. Uriah Williams officiating. Military honors will be performed by AMVETS post #10 immediately following service.  Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from noon until time of service.

The family of Harvey would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Evergreen Nursing Home, ThedaCare at Home Hospice for his care, and a very special thank you to his daughter Stephanie for her wonderful care.
