Herthal Larsen passed away on October 17, 2021, at the age of ninety-seven. Herthal was born September 11, 1924, the daughter of William and Gladys (Wilson) Krueger. She was the oldest of four children.  Herthal attended Shawano area schools and graduated from Shawano High School. She was a cheerleader, played in the band, and was an honor student.  She grew up on a family farm on the north shore of Shawano Lake where she greatly enjoyed riding horses and as a teenager, raced her horse at the county fair.

On December 13, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ervin Larsen.  Herthal was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening; especially tending her roses. She and Ervin traveled to the west several times enjoying the Rocky Mountain Parks. They were avid Brewer and Packer fans, and many Sundays were spent at their place having dinner and watching the Packers.  Herthal was employed for 34 years for the Shawano County Highway Department beginning as a clerk and working her way up to office administrator.

Herthal was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son Sheldon (Penelope) Larsen of Green Bay, two grandchildren; Christina (Joel) Ehrfurth of Pensaukee and Andrew (Emily) Larsen of Mequon, and six great-grandchildren; Kate, Jack and Charles Ehrfurth and Ellie, Annie and Will Larsen.

Herthal was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings and their spouses, Ramona (Charles) McBride, sister Betty Jean (Edward) Prange, and a brother Gale (Muriel) Krueger.  Herthal will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating.  Burial will be at Lake Drive Cemetery in the Town of Wescott. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday at 10:30 am until the time of service.
