Howard W. Popp, age 82 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at home. He was born on June 10, 1939 to the late Walter and Sybil (Moesch) Popp in Shawano. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1958. Howard joined the United States Army where he was a paratrooper. He was united in marriage to Shirley Wendorff in Shawano on August 6, 1966. Howard worked in construction as a mason until his retirement in 1991. Howard enjoyed turkey hunting, fishing, reading, and planting trees. He was a member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Andy; brother, Marvin (Judy) Popp; sister, Karen (Steve) Van Ryzin; and sister-in-law, Jacky Popp.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sybil; and brothers, Albert "Al" Popp, and Gerald Moesch.

A private family funeral service will be held. Military honors will be done by the Shawano American Legion.

Memorial suggestions include donating a book on gold mining, hunting, fishing, or history to the Shawano Library or plant a tree in his memory.
