Inez E. Kupsky, age 89 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Evergreen Care Center in Shawano. Born on December 18, 1922 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, she was the 2nd of eight children born to Herman and Marian (Estey) Gebert. After high school, Inez attended the St. John's College in Winfield, KS and in 1944 moved to Bonduel where she taught the lower grades at St. Paul Lutheran School for three years. Inez met her future husband, Eldon Kupsky through the church youth group and often joked that she picked him for his mother, Alma (nee Luebker) Kupsky. The couple was united in marriage at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bonduel on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947. After marriage they lived with his parents until they were able to buy a small farm of their own in the Town of Hartland, where they raised their five children. As the children grew Inez taught for one year in the early fifties and then taught the fourth grade from 1961 until her health forced her to retire in 1973. Inez and Eldon both loved woodworking and even remodeled an old log barn on the farm as a woodworking shop. While she did help Eldon with some of the larger projects such as furniture and remodeling, Inez loved making toys for children. For many years the house smelled of wood and varnish during the last weeks before Christmas as she rushed to get projects done. She also enjoyed planting flowers all over her yard to complement the many trees that Eldon planted. She loved people and sought to share the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ, with everyone she came in contact with. She was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and worked at the Bethesda Lutheran resale store in Green Bay as long as her heath allowed. She and Eldon were the congregational representatives for the Lutheran Church Extension Fund and as such she was known as "the stamp lady" by many students at St. Paul Lutheran School. She had been a resident of Evergreen Care Center in Shawano since July 2007. Inez is survived by: 4 children, Carol (Walt) Matzek of Prescott, Susan Kupsky of Green Bay, William (Kathy) Kupsky of Clintonville, Stephen (Mary) Kupsky of Gresham; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kupsky of Shawano; 17 grandchildren, Jana (Brian) Morrow of Eagle River, Darla (Barry) Cain of Beldenville, Tina (Brian) Sterud of Prescott, Abby (Jake Maher) Matzek of Ellsworth, Mandy (Mark) Morud of Ellsworth, Colleen (Alan) Streich of Rosemount, MN, Cassandra Matzek of Prescott, Ronald Kupsky of New London, Donna Griffing-Kriewaldt of Oshkosh, Rachael Westemeier, Sarah Kupsky and Kaitlynn Kupsky all of Clintonville, Lorin (Rodney) Ketchum, Bridget Kupsky and Jon Kupsky all of Gresham, Scott Kupsky and Kyle (Brie) Kupsky of Green Bay; 17 great-grandchildren; her a brother, Herman "Buster" (Charlotte) Gebert of Orlando, FL; 2 sisters, Margaret "Peg" (Stan) Pedersen of Appleton, Sue Ebert of Shawano; a sister-in-law, Concordia Beversdorf of Shawano and Valparaiso, IN; a brother-in-law, Ted (Marian) Kupsky of Bonduel; and many nieces and nephews.
