Inez L. Schroeder, age 91 of Shawano, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Birch Hill Health Care Center. Born on March 9, 1921 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Linda (Hacker) Singer. She grew up in the Shawano area and graduated from Shawano High School. After graduation, Inez worked at Shawano Equity Co-Op. On February 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Archie Schroeder. After marriage, Inez worked for Midwest Breeders while Archie was in the service. After his return, the couple owned and operated the Bowler Club House and a dairy farm before owning and operating Schroeder's TV and Appliance in Shawano. They also owned and operated the Red Saddle Supper Club, the L&L Ranch and a timber business before owning Schroeder's Real Estate. Inez had a knack for math and enjoyed doing the bookkeeping for the businesses. When not working, Inez loved being outdoors, spending time at the cottage on the lake and snowmobiling. She was also the best cook in the world and did gardening and canning. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and watching them grow up into young adults. Inez was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano. Inez is survived by: her son, Pete (Jan) Schroeder of Shawano; her daughter, Patti (special friend, Kevin) Schroeder of Shawano; grandson, Sam of Sheboygan; granddaughter, Megan of Neenah; a sister, Beatrice (Willard) Bohm; and a sister-in-law, Vera Hilgenberg. Inez was preceded in death by: her husband, Archie on February 25, 1998; her daughter, Polly; her parents; and 10 siblings, Mary (Ervin) Bohm, Mabel (Walter) Gruetzmacher, Celia (Bill) Rosenthal, Sally Weingarden, Arnold Singer, Eddie Singer, Ervin Singer, Lester Singer and Alvin Singer. Funeral services will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Marty Black officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00pm until the time of the service. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
