Ione M. Schultz, age 93 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2013 in Green Bay. Born on May 18, 1920 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Eleanor (Kaempf) Beversdorf. On April 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leonard H. Schultz at the St. James Meeting and Dining Hall in Shawano because the church had recently been destroyed by fire and hadn't been completed. The couple made their home in the Shawano area where they raised their two children. After raising her children, Ione went to work for the Shawano County Public Health Office. She worked for 19 years, retiring in 1985. Ione is survived by: her 2 children, Steven L. (Verna) Schultz, Susan (Todd) Grunewald; 4 grandchildren, Heidi (Carl) Kirar, Josh Schultz, Mindy (Steve) Serwy, Jen (Nick) Meagher; and 3 great-grandchildren, Giada and Ruby Kirar, Siena Serwy with a 4th great-granddaughter on the way. She is further survived by: a sister, Doris (Rev. Dan) Reinheimer of NC; a sister-in-law, Barbara Beversdorf of Shawano; and many nieces and nephews. Ione was preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard on March 14, 1999; her parents; a brother, Daniel (Barbara) Beversdorf; a brother in infancy, John Beversdorf; and 5 sisters, Evelyn (Orie) Meyer, Ruth "Butchie" (Ted) Meidam, Margaret (Frank) Norris, Lorraine (James) Brunner and Barbara (James) Schroeder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
